For the third Christmas in a row, homeware chain Dunelm will be ‘Delivering Joy’ to people in our local communities who might otherwise go without. Their stores are partnering with local schools, care homes and refuges and with your help, the team at Recruited UK are hoping to spread some festive cheer too!
The team were moved by a simple TikTok post by user green_mile_official who had spotted the campaign on LinkedIn, and all decided to get involved; if you follow us on Instagram you will have seen our stories over the last few days as members of our team have each added their own donations to the campaign.
“I initially saw the TikTok regarding the Dunelm campaign, and hearing some of the things some of the children had asked for in case Santa didn’t come broke my heart”, explains Executive Consultant Lisa Lindgren. “I have two young kids myself, and already they are so excited about the Christmas season, talking about Santa, the fun things that happen at Christmas and the presents. The thought of having to explain to a child who has been good all year that Santa isn’t coming is just heartbreaking, and I know that if it were a child of mine, I would hope someone could find it in their heart to help.”
So, how do you take part? It’s simple! Help yourself to a tag from the Delivering Joy tree in your local Dunlem store. Each one offers an insight into who’s going to be receiving your gift and as they’re all local residents, you’ll be bringing joy to someone nearby. Once you’ve sorted their present, pop it in an unsealed gift bag and take it back into the store by Sunday 11th December. Dunelm will then deliver the gifts in the run-up to Christmas.
There are also a series of local Dunelm community groups on Facebook that you might like to join to get involved in more activities to help in your local area, and you can also leave a donation at the checkout if you are shopping in-store.
Lisa continues: “I have two tags, one for a 15-year-old girl and one for a boy who is the same age as my son who, just like him, likes football and would really like a selection box. My son has been helping me pick out presents that he thinks a boy just like him would like, and it has really hit home to him, especially how lucky we are compared to others.”
“I think it is a great initiative to help out in our local community where some people really need it at what can be a really tough time of year.”
Recruited UK’s Managing Director Richard adds: “It’s hard to imagine what Christmas will be like for so many families who are struggling this year, particularly those with young children. Dunelm’s campaign is just amazing, and I’m so proud of our wonderful team at Recruited UK for doing their bit, and I would urge anyone reading this to please consider doing the same.”
